Replacing Stream audio

Featured Replies

I just ordered new Octavia Combi Elegence, and it comes with that Stream radio.

It seems difficult to find an AUX-in from that device, so I decided to replace it with JVC KD-DV6101-radio.

Has anyone done that (remove original) ? My car will have Maxi-dot-display, and I was wondering, will that maxi-dot still show outside temperature, for example, if I remove that original radio ? Is there some other important info in that original Stream ? Behind that info-button, I mean ?

What about that locker above the dash, is it big enought to hide a monitor in it ?

The maxi dot will still show all the info it normally does apart from maybe the radio/cd info. You will lose the visual for the reversing sensors too as they are on the Head unit. The cubby hole is small I have trouble fitting in a psp.

I am in the same boat as you Jape

I just ordered an Octavia Elegence with the Stream (arrives 30th April)(company car)

Possibly looking to go a bit further and fit a car pc system with 7in touch screen

Let me know how you get on

I use that dash storage bin to keep my ipod in. The ipod connection runs from the head unit into the inside of it. I'll post some pictures of my install at some point.

I just got that Skoda`s fascia plate, which is rather good, since it has two 1-din holes, so I can put JVC on the upper hole and VDO:s navigator device on the other.

The car comes without those wheel-radio-buttons, so I can buy that much cheeper ISO-adapter. That replacement-fascia-plate is mounted with 4 screws, just like the original package, so it should be quite good.

Too bad that JVC doesnt`t offer it`s own steering wheel remotes anymore.

Hi Jape have you managed to get the steering wheel controls to adjust your JVC yet ??

Cheers

Dear Andy, just like I said, my car came WITHOUT those steering wheel buttons, so It seems rather difficult to control JVC with those missing buttons !

But seriously, I wanted to buy some kind of a steering wheel remote for JVC, but they don`t make them anymore. Only available remote is that "normal" remote that comes with the radio, and as a driver, I think it`s quite useless.

Do you have any pictures of this?

This thread posted a few weeks ago may help you, although not precisely what you are looking at but gives some useful information: Stream Radio - Info
