Clutch pedal sticking

I wonder how many accidents have been caused by this issue by people finding that they are stuck in a particular gear because their clutch pedal is stuck down to the floor and won't pop back up?

I would guess none.

What you describe is not "stuck in gear" but no drive.

No recall and unlikely to be one for clutch problems on 9 year old vehicles given they even refuse failed clutches in the first years warranty citing them as wear and tear.

If you rely on others to work on your car and drive a nearly 10 year old vehicle you will have expenses, many of them unnecessary, no point looking to the manufacturers to stump up.

That was what I was quoted without much detail but I hope it is more than the cylinder.  I have asked my Skoda dealership for a quote but they won't go further than the £120 for a diagnostic assessment. It is a waste of money just to tell me that they diagnose a clutch problem! Then they would do a quote. I insisted on a quote and the chap asked me to contact his service department for labour costs and then to contact his parts department for a quote for parts too.  Eventually he succumbed reluctantly to ask his colleagues in these departments for a quote on my behalf. He came back with nothing! Left me a voicemail to ask me if I wanted a quote just for the main cylinder or the slave cylinder. There is no transparency with this garage. You basically are handing over an open cheque book.  He couldn't even think about just giving me worst and best case scenario to fix the sticking pedal.
