Hot Start, Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI 105 PD 2005

Recommended Posts

Ok so been reading around on various forums for a fault I am having this fault is when the engine reachs 90degrees or half way optimum running temperature, If I am to turn the car off and look to start it, it does start but it sort of turns over at least 4/5 times.

I have replaced the coolant temperature sensor with an OE VWG one and has not cured this problem. What other advice would you give?

Thank you

Richard

Does this happen every time the engine is up to temperature?

Does it happen if you switch engine off and restart immediately or do you need to wait a while? If so, how long?

My Mk1 TDI did it and I never found a solution.  My Mk 2 does it and I have read many suggestions including replace the starter motor.  It's had new batteries which has made no significant difference and I've just decided to live with it.  I generally start it from cold (starts almost instantly), drive 170 miles turn it off and 4-5 days later do the return journey so it's quite rare I start it from hot. The only times I do is when I stop to get fuel so from my perspective it's best just to leave it alone as long as it starts eventually.  I only have fault codes relating to the EGR valve and the aircon.
