Mp3 playlists?

Featured Replies

Hi all

does anyone know how to use mp3 playlists on the usb port?

I was hoping to use a usb stick for audio but being just mp3 files they are not in any order, would a playlist fix this or am i hoping for too much :)

Thanks

I have the Swing head unit but I think that this will be the same for all stereos:

Just put whatever music files you have into one single folder on the USB stick, press the MEDIA button to select the USB input, press the MIX button and it will play the files randomly.

I have a few folders on the stick with different music in each depending on what I fancy listening to at the time

I have a Sandisk Cruzer Fit USB stick as it's tiny and doesn't stick out as much as the other types.

Thanks, i have it playing the files ok but not in the order i want - i don't like shuffle or random :)

I was hoping a playlist would sort it into the playlist order but although it recognises the playlist it just says no audio files were found, even though they will play ok on their own.

Edit the titles/tags on the Memory stick.

eg you want Sweet child o' mine to play first -

rename it 1- Sweet child o' mine

then 2- Smoke on the Water

3- Burn

4- Highway star

5- Space Truckin'

etc etc

Thanks, that'll work.

:)

So...technology that we work for, rather than technology that works for us.  System obviously set-up by someone who thinks Windows is 'proper computing'.

Well I bet it's not just my mp3s that are downloaded from wherever over the last 20 years; the tags are all done differently - even all off the same albums won't play in order.

I just use the mix function and skip anything that i don't want to hear.

Yep, adding a 3 digit prefix sets the order but a PITA to do, i cant see why it can recognise a playlist but not use it?

Dave, you don't say which HU you have but Amundsen+ can handle these file types:

– MP3 files (.mp3) with Bit rates of 48 to 320 kbps or a variable bit rate.

– WMA files (.wma) up to 9.2 or to 10.0 mono/stereo without copy protection.

– Audio files in the OGG-Vorbis and MPEG4 AAC formats.

– Playlists in the PLS, B4S, ASX and WPL formats.

– File names and paths no longer than 256 characters.

– Folder structures with a maximum of eight levels. – Max. 256 folders and max. 512 files on audio data CDs .

– Max. 2,048 folders and max. 15,000 files, max. 6,000 files per folder, on memory cards. 

taken from the manual -

Manuals for all Rapid audio HU are in here:

Thanks, the files are the correct type and they play fine, the playlist is of a type listed in the manual, maybe i'm just not using it right? There are no instructions i can find on exactly what to do with a playlist file?

Can I ask someone in the know please?

So if I create an SD card with a Music folder, then types of music sub-folder, or who's music sub-folder (i.e Mine, Wife and the kids). Then put Artists sub folders within that and then Albums sub folders within that, and finally individual tracks from the albums. Can I get 1000 tracks into each folder or sub folder? Wife has an early 2016 Rapid with Swing, and I am getting a Superb with Columbus at the end of the week (if that makes any difference).
