Stop Start Too Enthusiastic?

Interesting. I understand the first as that is obviously what this thread is about. But the eco mode? Surely you have to actively turn that on, so why hate it? Simply don't turn it on instead? Or am I missing something?

Just curious as to why you dislike the car so much based on these two items...

Eco mode nearly caused an accident.....slowing down, put foot on accelerator and gearbox just constantly changed gears and revved without any increase in speed, put foot further down and more gear changes up and down and still no acceleration.  As soon as I lifted off and starred to brake the clutch engaged and had drive.

In fact the drive mode select on a diesel DSG is pathetic.  eco dangerous and sport is useless.  I've driven 4 VAG cars with drive mode and it's ok in a manual.

I'm looking at moving country next year to one which has never heard of Skoda and a 3.6litre V6 SUV is number one on my shopping list.  even if i wasnt going anywhere I'm done with the brand.

Petrol vRS.

Eco, works well, still accelerates on demand (if slightly more slowly) with no revving / gear confusion.

Sports mode - amazing & does what it says on the tin.

Normal mode - perfect for everyday driving.

For every grumpy Skoda driver, I'm sure there's a contented one too!

As someone said earlier, my 14 plate vRS TDI manual SS was fine. However on my 66 plate vRS TDI Manual it cuts in too early for my liking when the car is still moving causing loss of power steering, servo assist brakes etc.

I actually think this is quite dangerous and wondered if it is a flaw that needs rectified by the Dealership?

Other than that I just try and switch it off when I remember.

Yeah it does that on my DSG too (have complained about it on other threads!) and that is why I always remember to turn it off when I start the car.

I mentioned it to the dealer (who have been pretty good with my other whinges!) and they said that it was just how it is...

My manual gearbox car is permanently in eco mode as I want the maximum economy. I've tried the other modes and eco is fine by me and wheel spin is readily available with my size 12 feet.

23C today and now several weeks after my really long run. Stop start is not working on my short journeys around town and the aircon is cooling away. So back to normal. Long trip in 10 days so we'll see if it changes again.
