S3 wheels

Featured Replies

I have been offered a set of S3 wheels and 225/45/70 x 17 Bridgestones Potenzas. Not as good a trye as the Pirelli but assuming they fit the vRS offset will they do a better job than fitting 225/45/70s on the standard 17 inch vRS rims or purely cosmetic?

Chris

I don't think there would be much point. The Octavia RS's 7x17" inch wheel can have 225/45s fitted to them no problem.

They might be easier to clean though.

:)

Something different though isnt it. Also the S3 rim is 7.5 inchs wide. But yes they do fit fine.

Go for it i'd say :)

Yes they are 7.5 inch rims and therefore better suited to 225/40 section than using standard rims. Bridgestone Potenzas are OK but not as good as Pirellis.

The 225/45 on the RS standard wheels do look a little "bulgey".

Just a few things to checkout before I take the plunge.

The tread pattern RE40 for the Potenzas is apparently used by the OEMs like Audi and Japanese makes but not replaceable, only with ER30 and S03s. Is the RE040 pattern any good, tyre dealer said it was fine just not as special as the replacements.

If the offset for the 17 inch wheels is 32 and am told the S3 is 31 should they fit OK on the vRS.

Do you think I can get warranty cover for the wheels as they come from a new S3 if I get vehicle reg and chassis number?

My insurers will want to know and may change cover.

Reason for going this way is correct 7.5 inch width for 225/45 section tyre and always liked the S3 style plus of course I need some new tyres anyway.
