Rear View Camera

Featured Replies

What can you see out of your rear view camera. I can see a distorted view of the number plate and the top of the rear bumper, everything else looks normal but should you be able to see rear bumper top and number plate? Welcome views of those with the rear view camera.

Is it adjustable at all?

I see a quite wide area behind the car but not the plate or top you mentioned.

That's what I thought, I am sure that until today I couldn't see the number plate but today I can. Has something moved?

What angle is the camera at, is it at all loose?

No, feels rock solid. Can't feel any movement whatever. That's what's confusing me. Image is fine but seems to have shifted down a fraction.

It could be one of the lens elements has shifted.

I guess that is a dealer visit situation! I can still see clearly out of the camera so perhaps will leave it for a while to see if anything else changes.

I can see just see the number plate and bumper protector at the bottom edge of the screen - both distorted (curved) due to the wide angle lens (TIBET III is a 2014 FL with a Columbus).

Perhaps check the distance markers are accurate?

Thanks, that's a bit reassuring. I checked where the Red Line was by walking up to the rear of the car while my wife watched the screen. Basically my toes hit the red line approx 2 ft from the rear bumper. The thing I am pondering is what changed and why? At the start of the journey I could just about see a hint of the rear bumper, at the end of the journey I could see the number plate (distorted) and the top of the bumper - I guess approx 25mm of the bottom of the screen - why?

Any idea how far up the screen you can see the bumper/number plate?

Picked my new Yeti up 2 days ago - this is the camera view. Seems fine to me, especially for hitching the trailer

Actually that looks a lot like mine, maybe mine shows a fraction more number plate. Still don't know why it changed but I guess it must be within tolerance to show a bit of number plate. I will keep a careful watch on it to see if it changes at all over the next few weeks.

That is the same view I have with mine.

Here's a screenshot of what my view is on TIBET III:

My new car will have this feature

Can you back up to virtually touching an obstruction or car behind safely by looking at the screen? The normal parking sensors stop you getting that close.

Well before something shifted it might have been problematic but now I can see the rear bumper I guess you could reverse right up to an obstruction by viewing the screen. Haven't tested it though!

Yes you can - I had the same camera on my Octavia Scout before changing to the Yeti, and I can reverse precisely enough to position the tow ball under trailer hitch. The sensors make a racket though!
