Polo GTI - stolen!

Featured Replies

I posted this in the general car chat forum, but I'll repeat it here as I have much Briskoda love for my Citigo champions, and have always followed the goings on around here.

Late on friday some lovely people entered my home (whilst I was still up and about no less) and stole my Polo GTI from the drive. Police have no sign of it yet, but I have heard that the car has been used in several more burglaries in a wide area last weekend.

Annoying and scary as that is, I can only thank the stars that nothing else was taken from the property and no physical harm came to my family.

I'm still umming and ahhing on exactly what I'll get next, but am looking to be back in the Skoda fold very soon.

Bit scary, glad the family are all good.

Not saying you left your house unlocked whilst in but if you did it certainly takes balls  a to walk into someone's home when they are in and up.

Having lived in Spain for a few years, I lock all the doors behind me all day long, never ever leave any doors unlocked when I'm home. They unsavoury types will walk straight in an unlocked door over there, happens all the time, you just learn to lock yourself in all the time and it's a habit that I'm stuck in over here too.

Hope it's all sorted soon, obviously you do not want the car being recovered and returned after some scum have had it, just will not be the same.

Thanks for the comment Ben. In light of the car being used in other criminal activity I imagine it will be unlikely I will see the vehicle again. If it is discovered in one piece I imagine it will disappear into Police evidence compound for a pretty long time, or at least that's what they've said. I can't imagine what the interior would look like covered in that fingerprint powder the socos use, not to mention whatever the scumbags did to it as well.

Other night my mate was sat watching TV with the Mrs (his not mine )

Anyway they have one of those door bong things that makes a noise then the door is open. And was greated  by 2 youths in is hallway and upon chasing them 2 more youths hiding behind his Subaru on the drive obviously they were looking for the keys for the car and the bollard behind the car

This was at 7:30 pm seems the more direct and less discreet they are the more chance the have of getting away with what ever obviously the door bonger thing saved the day

Sorry about the bad news mate

Thanks Malcster. Yes, the emergency locksmith guy who called round mentioned the door bongers being a good thing. We are looking at very security upgrades to go with our decorating programme (just been in the new house less than a year).

In other news, I have just ordered a new Superb Sportline, so will be around Briskoda for some time to come. :)
