2004 Octavia TDi PD130 Laurin & Klement - £SOLD - Derby

Featured Replies

For sale is my 2004 ‘04’ Skoda Octavia PD130 Laurin & Klement, in dark blue metallic.  I bought this car to use as a daily driver through the winter of 2016 in order to keep the mileage down on my other car but have now got an Octavia 4x4 as a daily so this is surplus to requirements.

I’ll cover the basics first:

Mileage – 224932 miles

MOT – May 5th 2018

Owners – 3

Service History – Full and extensive with many many receipts

Keys – 2, both remote including keycode, SKC and radio code

Standard Spec:

PD130 TDi engine

6-speed gearbox

16” alloy wheels

ASR and ABS

Xenon headlights

Full black leather with heated front seats

Climate control

Electric tilt and slide sunroof

Remote central locking

Electric windows all round

Tape player with 6 disc CD changer and 8 speaker system

Optional Extras:

Parking Sensors

Cruise Control

Towbar

What I’ve done:

I’m pretty handy with the toolbox and also extremely particular when it comes to the cars that I own – they have to be kept to a high mechanical standard – so since owning it I have replaced or upgraded the following parts:

Front wishbones fitted with R32 spec solid bushes to improve the handling

Fitted an upgraded (Octavia 2) rear wiper

Fitted a new LUK master cylinder and concentric slave cylinder

Fitted new Boge rear shock absorbers and bump stops to replace the tired originals

Fitted a new thermostat and green temperature sensor

Fitted new anti-roll bar bushes

Fitted a replacement A/C hose (compressor to condenser) and had the system regassed - its nice and cold now.

Carried out a full service with all the filters when I first bought it and did the oil and filter again in March this year in order to keep the engine in good health.

A month ago in anticipation of selling it I had four new Avon ZV7 tyres fitted.

Further to this it had a gearbox rebuild along with a clutch, flywheel and timing belt in 2012 and when I changed the slave cylinder I checked the clutch and flywheel (it's a gearbox off job) and found it all to be in good condition.

As well as the above it has had very regular washing and general maintenance with little bits and bobs fixed here and there.  It’s fault clear on Vagcom and gets regular scans to check for any faults (there aren’t ever any).  Everything works on the inside, the heated seats are fantastic and are a very nice place to sit.

The bad bits:

As with any car there are a few bad points:

Stonechips on the front bumper and bonnet due to it being a motorway mile muncher with a previous owner

Some lacquer peel on the roof

A small amount of bubbling on the front of the O/S/R rear arch and a similar amount on the back of the N/S/R arch

Various small blemishes on other panels but a bit of attention with a machine polisher would probably sort them

The parking sensors sometimes give a false indication that there's something there when there isn't.  This seems worse when its raining but they do still work when you are actually close to an object.

Summary:

To summarise, it’s a fantastic car that needs for nothing at all mechanically.  It’s served me really well and I’m going to be sad to see it go.  It’s got 12 months MOT, which it passed with no advisories, good tyres all round.  It's got loads of service history including lots of receipts and the original service book, it’s got excellent spec with all you could ever want, goes extremely well and being a TDi returns a consistent 50mpg, closer to 55mpg on a decent run.  It’s not perfect on the outside but its very clean inside and will make an excellent daily driver, load lugger, child carrier or base to modify if that’s your thing.

The mileage might appear to be high but those who know the PD engines will know that the 2004 PD130 is universally recognised as the best of the PD 8V engines.  The engine in the car provides excellent power, doesn't smoke and doesn't use a drop of oil or water.  The gearbox is tight and crisp with its changes and the car drives fantastically well.  It'll probably do another 100000 miles without a single issue.  I'm probably going to regret selling it to be honest!  Incidentally, the mileage isn't going to go up now because I'm using the Octavia 4x4 daily now so this is just waiting in my workshop for its new owner.
