Hi guys

 

I took out PCP car finance in March of 2015, I'm due to pay the balloon payment this coming march and then I will own the vehicle. 

 

I wound up getting a number plate that contains the text WRC. I though I could possibly sell for a bit of cash. 

 

Question is, can I actually sell the plate until I officially own the car? 

 

Also so if anyone has any general tips on doing this, I'd be very grateful.

You could put a cheap plate or a cheap Irish plate on the car and put the original on retention. Keep the retention plate or sell it. Not all plates are retainable/cannot be removed so you will have to check.

 

 

2015 WRC plates from the DVLA with a quick and simple buy are available in their hundreds for £399 and older ones for less that, 

so you are unlikely to make much selling the plate.

Damn. My click4reg valuation was £1000, but I've only just realised that is an estimation they give you, not an offer. I also imagine it's in there interest to price it over its actual value since they make their money by charging you to list the item. 

 

For the the sake of a couple hundred and the hassle of having to sell it / find another plate for my car, it feels less enticing.
