Cigarette outlet always on

Featured Replies

Hi people, have a skoda yeti outdoor from 2013, and the cigarette stick is always on, even when leaving the car ? is there anyway to disable it so when it turns of either at ignition turn off or locking/leaving the car ?

Have VCDS and cabel, any other good things you can alter in the yeti outdoor ?

Without rewiring the sockets, no.

Mine has a usb double charging port adapter. I just pull it ip slightly until the light does out.

Why is it a problem to stay live. I often want to leave things charging with the ignition off.

I use it for a camera that records when i drive :) it turns off automaticly when the power is cut from the port, i also jank it a little up for it to loose power, but i am worried that the cigarette port cannot take this forever

The fuse rating on the cigarette lighter socket is high. Your camera draws very little current so should not be an issue.

Can you not locate and move the fuse so it's not permanently live?

Not without some rewiring of the fusebox, no.

I have hardwired my dashcam from an ignition live; it's a pretty easy job.

will have a look at that fuse, but dont thinks you can move it.

Maybe i will have to wire from the ignition fuse or something, damn

I used a 'piggy back' fuse on the rear wiper fuse to wire up  my dashcam. Pretty easy to do.

Have a read through this thread:

Quite.

Exactly what lots of us have done for various reasons, with no problems.

Why not just put a switch in the cable supply adjacent the socket?

Trouble with that - if you're using it to supply a dashcam - is that one day you'll forget to turn it on, and that'll be the oneday someone hits you :)

point taken!!
