Stock replacement for Suspension

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Yes its time for the suspension to go for good.. soooooo

these are some of the questions of the devil in the mind.

Which brand Monroe or Sachs?

Does the vRS share the strut and shocks with the other variants of Octy?

The front end bushings are new... Lemforders i mean.

Rear bushings are still shockingly OEM but should i need to worry??

Mk1 octavia is basically a Mk4 golf/bora audi tt so all suspension/brake components interchange able..

As for brand I dont believe you can tell the diference under normal driving conditions..

Thanks or the reply.

Did all the variants of Octy share the same suspension components?

@trainautos - No; the vRS has different length springs and FARB droplink attachments to other Octys. This, in turn, means different front damper tubes.

yes the vRS is different to most mk4 platforms, as ken says you need specific front shocks with the droplink attachments , also estate and saloon are different.

What are you planning? That's the first question to ask yourself. If you are keeping it standard, then got to your local TPS branch for the front shocks, part number JZW41031N - £74.28 + vat for the pair is what I paid last year from them. TOp mounts and bearings can be had from your local motor factor, or get them when ECP/GSF have a discount code offer on, either mid week or weekend, sometimes up to 55% off. Rear shocks can be had off ebay, TRW number is JGT218S, again top mounts can be had from local factors etc. If you are looking at springs as well, then standard vRS ones can be had aftermarket as well. Fronts are RC1232 and rears are RH6777 (KYB branded).
