fluid loss/condensation from aircon pipework

Featured Replies

Have signs on the ground of possible fluid loss cant decide where its coming from. Externally its showing up at a midpoint under the front bumper where the underside panel meets the bumper. Could see when looking into the engine bay there was possibly a drip of condensation from the silver aircon pipe directly above it. Because of the recent hot weather have put the aircon on every time I have taken the car out though the stuff on the ground does feel a bit oily.

No warning lights have come on and the oil in the sump is at a normal level and the aircon is working normally. If it continues I will have to take it into the garage :(  Joe

Hi Joe, yes, it's pretty usual for condensation from the aircon to appear on the ground after driving. If you dip your fingers in the liquid - I'm sure you'll find that it is clear water!  Those ally pipes get a good layer of condensation (and sometimes, ice), and drain down when car stops.
