Hi folks,

I have just fitted a new clutch master cylinder to my 2006 Octavia 1.9tdi following the "pedal stuck to the floor" syndrome.

Try as I might I cannot get the hard pipe to master cylinder connection to stop leaking, God knows where the old seal disappeared to.

I never once saw the old seals, I assume they jumped off and are somewhere on the undertray?

So today I fitted a new seal, (the "top hat" shaped one only), pushed the clip retainer back in, pressurised the system and and it is STILL leaking!

See the attached photo of the new seals I got, The "top hat" shaped one fits neatly on the end of the hard pipe so that seems ok, but where the heck does the O ring go?

BTW the cylinder shown is my old one, (you might notice the electrics bit is missing, that is another story)!!!

My Octavia set up seems very similar to the one in this youtube video albeit it is for a Volvo   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooYw3AdVPMY

The main trouble with this job is actually the dreadful access to the damn thing, you cannot actually see wtf is going on once you thread your arm down there! It's all a painful bloody mystery!

So if anyone has done this job lately please help me, please !

John.

Hi folks,

Well after a painful and frustrating week on and off trying to stop the fluid leak from where the hard pipe connects to the master cylinder, at last I found this video.

This simple tweak solved the problem within minutes... I could not believe it !
