AIR CON NOT WORKING AFTER AIR RECYCLING ON?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Well while returning last night to home after a hot day from the seaside, just went through a road with lots of cars so decided to turn on the internal cabin air recycling by pressing the appropriate button (not the AUTO).

Just to mention that the AC was working as too much hot outside even at night!...

Noticed the air flowing was hotter after the air recycling was on, like the compressor was shut off..

Then depressed the recycling and after few secs cold air was flowing back normally..

Did this 2-3 times more and it happened to blow hot air when recycling on.

Really as I think I don't remember to have faced this before, does this really mean that when recycling gets on the air becomes hotter like seems the compressor deactivates?

Started to sweat all, it was uncomfortable feeling.

I'm sure I have had air recycling on other times too but not felt cold air reducing.

It's a climatronic in a 2009 model.

Does anyone know any tip if there is an issue or as it's fully automated if this is a specific functionality from any sensor or defrost system...?

Thanks for ideas.

Just to confirm that pressing recycling with aircon on should not turn off cold air. In fact it is recommended that you do this for a few minutes when you need to get the cabin temperature down quickly, such as when the car has been stood in the sun.

Could be a flap valve stuck? Try setting different temperatures for driver and passenger to see what happens.

Definitely sounds like a flap is stuck. Pretty sure you can run through a diagnostic check on the vent system by pressing a few buttons in sequence. Someone might know how to do that.

Thank you.

Is VCDS able to show faults on the vent/aircon system?

Can not understand how a possible stuck flap can affect the cold air blowing from ac...

Normally even activating the recycling (flaps moving to stop incoming air to the cabin)  the cold air still blows as if the flaps were off so this naturally mean that the cold air is not affected from the flaps position.....correct?

The flaps have to do regarding only with isolating incoming air to the cabin - thus activating only the internal air to continuously move into a close circuit.

If I'm wrong please correct me...

Try holding the Econ and foot well air flow buttons for 2 seconds - it will try to calibrate the flaps positions for a while and hopefully release the one that is stuck. Don't bet all your money on this though.

Thanks Inex,

This climatronic does not have Econ button... do may I assume this flaps calibration can be done also in this system but in other way?

What about finding a VCDS better?

Forgive my ignorance.... Should have asked. Don't know if it can be done then...
