What is the 'OPEN' control knob in my Yeti 1200 glove box for?

An air conditioning/heater outlet.

Also one in the central cubby box.

Thanks Llanigraham - having lived for over a decade in St Harmon I should have known I could expect a sensible answer from the area!  Thanks again - all I need now is to know where to find the Data Connection Point!

When the Glove box is open it says open, if you could climb inside when shut would it say closed.
