Here we go ....................

Wife just called to say it threw a flashing glow plug light and went in to limp mode at 55mph when changing from 5th gear to 6th.....

Flaming wonderful!

Will code read later.... Does anyone know if it is still OBD2 ???  Like same port as normal?..

The 5 speed 1.6 diesel Greenline was the most economical. I often saw 60+ mpg on the maxidot and over 70 on some leisurely trips.

Dont need 6 gears for economy just the righ ratios

I don't agree on the number of gears even if the ratio in top is the same. I'm sure that if mine had 6 it would be even more economical. That's the reason that DSG's are getting more and more.

Many times I'd like to change up a gear but if I do the engine starts labouring unless you rev in the lower gear more which will obviously be less fuel efficient.

Same changing down - some islands I can go round in other cars in third (including my wife's petrol Mini Cooper S - 6 gears) but in the Yeti I have to change down to second and slow up more than I really want to otherwise it is revving higher than I want.

5 gears in cars years ago was fine because they didn't have such high top gears for economy. Top gear in my TT is ridiculously high and can't get into it unless you're on a fast level road. On the motorway, if I get baulked I have to change down to fifth. Designed for the German autobahns I guess!

6 speed shortens ratio through gears.   At 70-80mph that 6 speed is useful but to be honest 5 is enough below 75mph.

Just about to scan Yeti to see why limp mode and glow plug lights.

Out of interest, has it had the fix, glow plug light on post fix seems to be common now.

No fault codes found... The safe lock feature flashed up so think this is tied in.

But Yeah, I scanned sunday and no codes stored.

?

Has it had The Fix done then, or is that still outstanding?

Sorry Awayoffski, Didnt see your reply for some reason.

With the digital service book I cant see whats done.

However, as you raised a question that has been bothering me..... I expected a 110 2 litre tdi not to be affected due to its low power output. But I do wonder if it was affected by the fix??  I have no paperwork to suggest any "Fixes"

Maybe you could advise as I know you are quite wise on these things?

Many thanks

Check the Skoda VIN checker and see if outstanding.

That particular engine power output is affected. If it has been anywhere near an official Skoda dealership, the fix will have been carried out. If not, then you may be in luck?

They are all affected if before Euro 6 and diesel.

1.6tdi Greenline had to be done just before it went back to lease company. I had two weeks of regens, reduced torque at lower revs and in my opinion a noisier engine before it went.

Shame because it had been a good car for 3 years.

Well thanks to all ^^^^

And Awayoffski, did the Vin checker last night.   It says our Yeti has had the fix :(

To be expected I guess but may also contribute to the terrible performance which I dont remember being quite so bad for a 110 4x4.

Can anyone provide light on what the fix entailed?  Was it adjusting the Map to reduce power?

Just seen its a flow transformer .... Reading up now

Found info

It messed up your car with removing the Defeat Device and giving you new Engine Management most likely, see all the threads all over Briskoda.

Now you might have a 2 Year Skoda type keep some happy assurances warranty extension with T&C's.

Probably you will be better getting a Remap done by someone with the gear and the software.

That is getting pretty well covered in threads now on this and other forums.

*Before that you need to register your formal complaint with Skoda UK about the vehicle and how it is running,

and see about a Main Dealers investigation or a Mobile Technician from the VW Group and see if the car is covered under the new announced set up by Skoda / VW.*

I thought you knew to check to buy a car without the Fix having been carried out.

Not like theres much choice where we are to be honest.  One popped up in our budget in our area. First one in 6 months. I did post up asking about engines etc. But nobody mentioned fixes.

I will sort it lol.  Maybe an original file will be available to flash my ECU.

Will go research.

A minor problem just gives me something to fix. Solutions are there just got to find them

I think the only solution WITHOUT VAG help is a remap to make the car run properly and without EGR /DPF problems which are being replaced for free (only in Germany at the moment) have read that post fix cars DONT always show error codes even when warning lights on.best of luck.

Thank you.

It seems to be running ok, no Dpf cycling noticed yet.  I think it will be fine :)

Or rather hoping lol.

Indeed!! Been sweating about the Fix especially as the limp mode appeared a few times and no fault codes.  Guy at the tuners told me they had seen loads of issues at their place due to the fix. Anyway, its going and a wee bit more grunt to boot and better fuel economy is a welcome extra.

So Yeti shook the wife and baby by going in to limp mode as they overtook a lorry... Enough was enough in to Arnold Clark today for warranty work.... Short story an absolute shambles, service booked it in Incorrectly and It was meant to be tied in to Skoda.  When I called the Motorstore and explained Limp mode fault and misfire they booked it in, then upon dropping off the car the gentleman on service said we cant fix this it needs to go to Skoda " i wish you had told us it was going in to limp mode"  i explained it was on his screen in front of him.

5 hours later car has not moved and 6 phonecalls later i give up, the wife calls and he tells her the car is in their workshop ( no need for Skoda now) being fixed...the wife said she was looking at the car in their car park so how was that possible.

Collected car just now and they would not give me the fault code they found, I did catch a sneak of paperwork saying " Ecu malfunction " or possibly " Egr malfunction" he moved it too fast but im sure it was the first one.

Told me the boost pipe / Intercooler pipe was off.  Now guys, we know what happens when that pipe is off, the car was boosting great with no smoke a no whistle.

So im awful puzzled and worried but hey....... Its Arnold Clark

Oh boy! I hope this gets resolved. Not feeling safe in your own car is a bit of a no-no.
