New Yeti owner...:-)

Featured Replies

Hello all....

I always promised myself a new car when I hit 60 so decided to stick to my word and have just bought one of my all time favorite Skoda's  ... The Yeti....it's an Outdoor 1.4 Tsi L&K.

Only had it a short time but already super impressed.

In the past I've owned a Fabia and a trusty white Felica pickup complete with Truckman top which I owned for 12 years from new .... what a great workhorse that was...:-)

Regarding the Yeti.... I need to hard wire in the front and rear cameras I have taken out of my previous car.

Just been having a look on this forum but can't see any info on hard wiring so that the cameras have a constant 12v supply regardless of whether the ignition is on or off.

Have I missed an article or can anyone help with this please...?.

Nice one ZEN, the Yeti is a fantastic car

Here are a couple of dashcam threads to get you started, but a search will find more . . . .

Thank you for those links Clive...I think all the info I need is right there....sounds like it's quite straightforward using the fuse box in the dash....I'll investigate.

Yes really pleased with the Yeti ....the 1.4 tsi is very responsive and the whole car feels so well screwed together....excellent front lights too...best I've ever had.

Interestingly when I picked the car up was just having a general Yeti chat to the sales guy...I was lamenting the end of the true Yeti era but he cheered me up by saying he had heard Skoda will be bringing out a new Yeti at the end of 2018 which will keep the Yeti name but will be smaller than the one we have now.He wasn't talking about the Karoq either that being basically a smaller version of the Kodiaq.

So the Yeti name will indeed live on....let's hope he is correct...:-).

Thank you Jed...nice to be here..:-)....Yes I think you mean the 12v sockets at the front and back....I need a fuse box permanent live connection that will power the front and rear dashcams together.

Just about to investigate the fuse box inside the cabin ...passenger side.

Hi Zen1, I made the same promise to myself when I hit 65.

Fusebox is on the driver's side!

Hi Robjon...Yes I always keep my promises so couldn't let this one to myself be the exception...:-)

Oh thanks I thought it was on the end of the dash passenger side with a cover that needs to be lifted with a screwdriver...I'll check out the drivers side.

Pictures in the Owner's Manual are for LHD!

When you take the RH cover off, you will also see that the fuse layout is upside-down compared to the diagram in the manual.

If you dig into the first of the two links posted by Clive, you'll find a link to a diagram of the fuse layout in a RHD car. (Thanks to Urrell)

Yes thanks I'll check out those links ...just need a permanent live plus a negative.

Be good to get the cameras in again.

Got the front and rear cameras in today....wired into the interior fuse box ... thanks for the pointers as to where it was.

I used the rear 12v outlet fuse as that's live all the time.

Really pleased to get the cams in as apart from the evidence they can provide in the event of an accident the rear cam works as a great anti tailgating deterrent too...:-)
