Radio bricked?

Featured Replies

Apologies if I've missed the answer elsewhere but done quite a bit of searching tried the disconnecting battery/ turning on sequences etc but my radio is stuck saying 'SAFE', it never reverts to the option of inputting a code, is it possible for these to get permanently blocked or anything like that?

Cheers

Although I've never confirmed... I've seen you get 3 attempts at putting the code in. If you fail all 3 attempts the radio will lock for approximately 1 hour so needs to be left switched on for the hour before it goes back to the lock screen.

Does this mean an hour in total? Or does this have to be an hour on constantly? Should I leave ignition on with radio on while I clean it or something to see if that does anything? I've had on for over an hour but not sure if all at once?

Cheers

My radio in my old Fabia did this to me. The code didn't work. I read it's something to do with the ECU not recognizing the radio or vice versa. 2 years later I finally got my arse in gear and bought a aftermarket radio lol.

haha, well as I'm worried this isn't going to resolve itself quickly and I've got (hopefully) a 900 mile drive, do I need another fascia or should the radio fit in? Thanks

Single DIN will fit. Possibly the curved top of the oddment tray will show, you'll need the Skoda infill bit to go above the radio. Or buy the Autoleads or similar adapter that's one piece and replaces most of the smaller plastic gubbins.

Double DIN will also fit but loses the oddments tray.

Mechless gets you a lot of room to faff about behind the radio. :)

I think I still have my OEM tape deck from my old Fabia, hardly used as I fitted a single din unit with UBS & wav files & wrote up the wiring colour outputs in guide..
