Spare tyre surround to stop boot liner sagging?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My father recently gave me a spare tyre for my Citigo (he took it out of my mum's Citigo...don't ask!). All well and good, but now, since taking out the puncture repair kit whatsit that came with my car, the boot liner sags because there is nothing around the tyre to keep the liner level. So, what I'm wondering is there something that covers the tyre in the recess to keep the lining of the boot level? Does that make sense?!
Thanks,

JO

IIRC there should be polystyrene blocks underneath the liner that rests on the tyre to give the support and therefore no 'sagging'.

I ordered my Citigo with a (full-size) spare instead of the standard repair kit....the wheel is fitted with it's "outside" facing downwards in the well - and there is the required jack, brace and tools etc in a black polystyrene moulding which fits tightly in the centre of the wheel. This moulding does indeed raise the level by several centimetres so that there is support for the boot floor (or "liner"), keeping it dead level. Perhaps you could either add stiffeners to the underside of the liner....or improvise support with polystyrene packing blocks in the wheel centre?
