Radiator & Anti Roll Bar Bushes query

Featured Replies

I have a Fabia Comfort 1.4 (2000) which has 2 main problems. Loss of coolant & its a bit noisey when going over bumps.

I took it to the dealer and they've come back saying my radiator needs replaced and the anti roll bar bushes and drop links need replaced

I'm being quoted £431 all in........

thats £233 for the radiator (2.5hours to fix) and £198 for ABR bushes & drop links (2hours to fix). I'm currently waiting on a few other local garages getting back to me and may possibly just buy the parts myself and just get them to fit it.

Does this quote I've been given seem right or am I getting screwed?

What do you guys recommend?

Thanks for any advice you can give me :D

Id say he main faults would be as you said.

Radiators are quite common, but make sure if the leak is coming from the n/s bottom of the radiator that its not just the rad fan switch leaking, only a few pence for the seal and very common (more so that raditors)

Anti roll bars are also common, the collars come off the roll bar and slide sideways allowing the bar to move and knock on the subframe.

Prices wise I dont quite as long for the ARB but i'd quote longer for the radiator as they are a real pain in the **** (that if it is the rad) so its all swings and roundabouts.

I paid £120 to have the anti roll bar replaced at my usual non franchised garage. Similar symptons to yours ie knocking noise from (front offside) suspension when driving over bumpy roads. I believe it was £60 parts and £60 labour

i have a 1.4 16v 2000 fabia as well.i got both front bushes (

Hi, my car was in the garage for a new radiator this morning; when the garage phoned me to say they couldn't change it, I ckecked this site and found the advice above- when I passed this info. on to the mechanic at the next garage(who was adamant it would be a new radiator) he found it was the fan switch seal(he called it the sender unit)

Cheers Lummox, this advice saved me

Cheers Lummox,

There should be one in every dealership ;):D
