Adding 12volt sockets in rear passenger area.

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Anyone added 12 volt sockets to the rear passenger area on a MK3 Octavia??

Thanks in advance.

No, but I guess you could get an adapter and extension lead and run them off the 12v socket in the boot, feed the cable under the back seat somewhere maybe.

Would USB sockets be better theses days?

Ebay has plenty of adapters.

If you want USB in the back I can say that connector does the job wonderfully and is well worth the money.

I just unplug mine and drop it under the driver seat when not in use.

As for a 12v if you need specifically a 12v could you not get an extension cable that runs from the front or rear 12v socket and thread it through to the back?

I was thinking of doing something simioar to what I did in my wife's qashqai. Buy a 12v socket on eBay, drill a hole and install in the back of the arm rest and connect it using cable lock connectors (like these http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equipment/fuses-electricals-fixings/halfords-cable-lock-connectors-hef531-15-amp?cm_mmc=Google+PLA-_-Garage+Equipment-_-Fuses,+Electricals+&+Fixings-_-178673&istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istItemId=lwrrrw&istBid=tzpl&_$ja=tsid:94971|cid:865695754|agid:43902127335|tid:pla-328736075691|crid:203186037801|nw:g|rnd:727290981850102086|dvc:m|adp:1o2|loc:9045129&gclid=CjwKCAjw-qbLBRB7EiwAftBCI2383hKtjWI9gk7hTZe03uGO1U1Crfs-lrt_cZZbmaVsQoH6kCn-4RoCxy4QAvD_BwE) and connect them to another 12v adaptor in the car. This worked very well for many years.

Any reason I should not do this??
