Columbus, DAB radio is not working, USB??

Featured Replies

Hey :) i just bought me a 2009 Superb 1.8 TSI, love the car, but my DAB radio dont work, all the channels are quiet, its only DAB and not DAB+ i think so that could mabye be the reason.

I removed the columbus and here i see that its from May 2013, so it has to be replaced. But i wonder if someone knows what the black port in the top of the Columbus is, could it be the for DAB antenna??

And under the GPS antenna (blue and white contact) i see that there is a big port, and i wonder what that is? Could it be possible to install a USB port from that? any experiences?

Black connector is the dab antenna. That looks like your problem. The other port is for reverse camera.

Okey, i hope that`s the problem :) Thanks for your reply. Do you know where its possible to connect a USB kit? this for example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180729978836 If i dont take wrong, i have to plug it behind the Columbus.

Yep, unplug the Columbus and plug in the adapter loom, then reconnect the adapter loom to the loom in the car. Then site the USB plug in the glovebox somewhere.

Thanks for the help, i think i gonna buy this adapter soon :)

You'll also need VCDS to tell the car you have an MDI fitted.

okey, how can i do that? that is mabye a thing for the workshop to do i think. Or is it possible to do it by yourself?

You need someone with VCDS software and a diagnostics cable (see here for users in your area), or you could take it to a Skoda dealer and pay them to try and do it. Or you could buy the gear to do it yourself.

Okay :) i just have to see what i do when i get the adapter, thanks btw ;)

I dont know if you have tried, but i am not sure if it will work. I will try a AUX to USB cable in the AUX port and then connect a USB stick to it. will it work?? that`s the question :)

It may work, but you won't get any control on the head unit. AUX is simply a means of music transfer and nothing else, so track changes will not be possible etc.

Yeah, i think that should be a problem. But when i get AUX up in the display, this show up, but i am not sure if you can use these buttons.
