Monthly update of radar charts via INTERNET
============================
Hello.
It’s possible with the WLAN Internet client (Skoda-Connect) and the recent navigation units AMUNDSEN 8 "or COLOMBUS 8" or 9.2  .... and subscription services (It's free for 1 YEAR), to update it’s radar peas monthly via the Internet and a PC (for input) and then import them into the navigation unit from the latter to the mapping (Navigation).
Beforehand, our navigation unit is connected to the Internet (eg via the external wifi hotspot of your smartphone in connection sharing or via the WiFi hotspot of the box if the car is parked beside ...).

On the https://skoda-connect.com (portal)
Go to the "MY POINTS OF INTEREST" service

(Google + password identification and account created).

Then you have to enter the .asc or .csv format of the radar peas previously imported on your PC hard drive from the chosen site (GPS Garmin in .asc format).
Here u can download for free :
speecams POIs + bmp icons (07/01/2017) concerning these  4 countries : FR, SP, IT, UK
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8Q8o-E2ST8fRHpwZjZ6bDR1QVU/view?usp=sharing

•    For FRance, there are 14 categories :
FR-feurouge.asc; FR-radar30.asc; ...; FR-radar130.asc; ... and each category is associated with a radar icon in .bmp format : FR-feurouge.bmp; FR-radar30.bmp; ...; FR-radar130.bmp; ...;
•    13 categories for Spain;
•    12 categories for Italy;
•    9 categories for Great Britain;
(In all, 48 categories for these 4 countries).

It is therefore necessary to press "ADD a POI" by writing :

- the name of the POI (eg. GB-speed30)
- the location on the HDD of the associated .asc file (eg. GB-speed30.asc)
- the location on the HDD of the associated icon file (eg. GB-speed30.bmp)

Then SAVE and repeat as many times as there are POIS categories (max. 50 categories, max. 8 MB per category).
For example, these 4 European countries such as France, Spain, Italy and Great Britain, can be registered for all radars available as speed or red lights or site radars ... without needing to REGROUP them in 4 or 5 categories beforehand (With loss therefore of the exact mention of the speed to be retained ...).

When this entry is finished, you must return to the vehicle in the INTERNET connection menu, which is : MENU / SKODA CONNECT / to display the list of available INTERNET services (Weather, Roads, Petrol Stations, RSS news feeds, ...) and select the "DOWNLOAD" service which can be also named « UPDATE ».

Launch the Download (hence the interest of having a good WiFi connection from the vehicle to your external WiFi hotspot ...)

And once it is finished, the POIs will AUTOMATICALLY go to the NAV (igation) menu.

All you have to do is to go to Menu / Navigation / MAP
-> show special destinations + select special destination categories

And select them one by one to display a maximum of 10 on your cartography at a given moment (by changing countries, think of selecting the 10 Maximum Peas of this country ...).
-> If you do not want to go through the "Download" service of MENU / SKODA CONNECT

You can also go through NAV / Settings / MEMORY / Call My Special Destinations on LINE
to download its monthly POIs via the Wlan WiFi client.

You no longer need to relay your SD card to copy them every month on your navigation unit.

One drawback is that the POIs show up well but disappears the "gloup" sound warning … as in the old days.

But my choice is made :

Go  now this way with my SKODA Business having  a AMUNDSEN 8  navigation unit with an integrated WLAN client on it :
(for info this WLAN client at SKODA is a WLAN client type N to 2.4 Ghz named  SKODA-WLAN with a maximum speed tested at 72 Mbits in bandwidth 20 Mhz)

But it is sufficient for the task.
