Hello guys, kind first time posting on forums about cars so please be gentle ^^, i'm planing on buying a 2009 skoda superb,4x4, 170hp with 175k km, the car is from my job and belonged to my manager, it will be auctioned and i'm planing on bidding ~6500 euro that should be enough to win it .. is it a good price ? is the car worth it ? what should i expect on the maintenance cost .. atm the only problem is both pasanger windows won't go down .. some electrical issue but thats it .. they only work from the driver .. thank you in advance :)

Don't know about current pricing where you are but in the UK Parkers says trade in about £4.1k which is about E4.6k for a car with 90k miles which is about 140k km

Re windows - are you sure it's not the big button on the drivers door that disables the window control of the other windows

Check all rear lights and boot /twindoor controls work

Get the car checked out as it's a lot of money for a car that may be cream crackered. Condition and service history is all especially on a car fitted with a DPF

Hey, sorry for the late answers .. the car has a manual 6+1, wich is good cuz i don't really like automatic cars, i'm from Romania.. and the price for the specs, year, km's, goes between 7.5 to 10k, there are few with 400k+ km's that go around 6k..as for that electrical problem if it is that .. should the mirrors fold when you lock the car ? cuz they don't .. maybe is tied to the right side windows :s

Bout the mirrors....do like this: Car locked and windows are up....Hold the lock botton on remote and the mirrors fold in

I got a Superb 2011 Estate for €12000 and thats cheap here in Denmark....they are sold for the double of that easyli but we are to pay an insane tax of 180% on our cars here.

Good luck with your new car....its a great driving maschine!

Yes you are right, the mirrors do fold was a bit scared about it :D .. what about the maintenance and reliability

Maintenance should be minimal but only if the car was well looked after of course.  Has it had water pump and timing done for example?  Reliability is generally really high with Superbs and most of us have, at most, only had minor issues.  EGR issues are something that has come up on some alright.  Again, service history is most important.  Being a manual, DSG problems are one less thing to worry about.  Can't really comment on price as they will vary between countries depending on how strong resale values are.  First place to start is obviously looking at what similar age cars are selling for locally and the fact that it is being auctioned should further discount that for a regular sale price.

Everything that was ever done to the car was at the skoda service .. last maintenance was at 163 000 km(174000 curently), the distribution was changed at 104 000, the next maintenance should be in 15 000, and probaly that will be after ~2 years maybe, mainy what i have to do is fix the windows and buy some winter tires haha

Since its a 170HK like mine i presume its diesel. I just got my DPF (Diesel Particle Filter) changed.....that can be a bit costly especially if you do at Skoda. Here in Denmark Skoda charges £2100 and i got it changed at a special diesel mechanic at the cost of £1200. Problem is that when the filter burns out the soot it leaves ash and at some point the filter gets full and it needs to get cleaned (if the core is not damaged) or changed
