Replacing hose/tube from servo to check valve

Featured Replies

My son's 1999 1.6 gasoline Skoda (I sold my own TDI four-five years ago...) had some brake issues that had to be fixed after a periodic control (what we in Norway call the EU control - every two years). Then the brakes had to be bled, and by accident he toughed the hose/tube from the servo to the check valve while checking the fluid level in the main cylinder. Which meant that sudddenly the pedal just didn't to anything at all! That seems to me like a rather bad design flaw, since the hose/tube (hard plastic) was very brittle and probably towards end of life. It would have been rather bad if that had failed while driving! I always thought that a failure there only made the pedal harder to use since the servo didn't help out anymore, but on his car the pedal went straight to the bottom and there was no way to get any pressure in the system.

So now I'm going to replace it. But I'm pretty sure this is something that has to be ordered. Can I just use a regular, flexible 10 mm vacuum line, or do I need to get the original part for some reason?

Thanks in advance!

Couldn't wait anymore so I called Skoda. They said that I had to use the original, and it cost 50 quid. Of course they said that... But since I haven't had anybody telling me that it's possible to use a regular vacuum hose I can't take the risk since it's the brakes.
