Alarm siren finally fixed

Featured Replies

Hey peeps

I'm pleased to tell I'm now officially part of the faulty siren now fixed gang and my replacement from AliExpress was fitted this morning.

Tbh, I missed the 'double chirp' on locking the car but do appreciate some don't like it. That's just the OCD in me ha ha.

So yeah, I can rest easy now knowing my car is protected and hopefully, I'll be long rid of her by the time this siren decides to call it a day.

It really was an easy job for my mechanic mate and all for £30 to get him his beers ect. Nice isn't it when someone a phonecall away is willing to help.

I'm a very happy chappy right now.

Co-incidentally, I did mine yesterday (I had the part on hand already for 12 months) and replaced the aux belt due to having the front driver wheel and liner off. All while trying to find a slight oil leak being the main purpose. Shame the main purpose wasn't as clear cut or successful as the other fixes!

The alarm siren job was easier on the FL Octavia than the Mk5 Golf, I didn't drill out the rivet, there was a secondary securing nut which I removed, as well as the siren nut,  and allowed the casing to be bent and lowered down and then returned to its place. In the Mk5 Golf, it was a rivet and a securing tab at the top of casing. Couldn't really do it without removing the rivet.

Glad you've got your chirps back....
