08 fabia gearbox question

Featured Replies

hi  i have been looking at a 08 skoda fabia 1.6 16valve auto, it has 43k on the clock and so i assume it would be due a gearbox service so on calling my local skoda dealer to enquire about  parts prices to be told it dose not need a oil change as its not a DSG and its a plain auto? is this correct,

thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

?

Who did you speak to at the Local Skoda Dealer because i doubt they were a Technician.

The 7 Speed DSG's do not get oil changes & 6 Speed ones get Oil & Filter changes at 40,000 miles,  since it has neither the Autobox might need the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) changed sometime.

Or just left well alone.   So best ask a Skoda / VW Tech and not a Service Desk employee.

hi thanks for the reply, the parts person was a lady and had to keep asking someone else and had to call me back, although i was under the impression being a 6 speed it was  a DSG i guess you learn something new every day, is there anything to watch out for with the normal auto. thanks again.
