Text read out on 3C8 035 730 E Bluetooth phone kit phone

Featured Replies

I had a 3C8 035 730 D Bluetooth phone kit in my old car which had a text message read out option on the phone menu via the maxidot.

My new to me car has a 3C8 035 730 E Bluetooth phone kit which I presume is newer but does not have the text message read out option in the maxidot.

Have I missed something really obvious here or does it need to be activated by VCDS?

It does read texts in maxidot jon.

You need a phone that supports rsap mode.

Sorry Dan, not explained very well in my original post.

I am connected via rSAP and I can view text messages on the maxidot.

In my old car I had the option for the text message to be read out so I could listen to it rather than be distracted reading it.

I can get the text message read out by the Columbus but I just can't see the option on the maxidot.

I think it depends how it's coded.

If I remember correctly, I could either have voice control performed via the Columbus or the BT module.

When the BT module did it, the read SMS option was there, when the Columbus does it, there is no read SMS option.

Thanks Langers, I probably need to get it recoded then!

I think you'll lose voice control via the Columbus if you change the coding.

It might be possible to get the MFSW to activate the BT voice control and the mic button on the Columbus to activate it's voice control but I can't say I've tried.

I'll look to have it coded and let you know.

Thanks.
