Another 312mm Brake question..

Featured Replies

Sorry in advance but I've yet to find a definitive answer.

Sourced locally a set of front and rear calipers and carriers from a 2006 Octavia VRS FSI are they compatible with my Fabia VRS or is it only the MK1 Octavia VRS, I know Golf Mk4 etc fit but I can get the full set for a £110 and they're really clean and 10 mins drive away. Thanks.

A Mk1 Octavia IS a Golf Mark 4 in a different body style, the answer is therefore blindingly obvious.

Maybe I should have worded my question differently... Is a 2006 Octavia VRS a Mk1, that is the vehicle which the calipers are coming off.

Mk1 = 1996 -2010, there were many changes but the mechanical Golf Mk4 platform remained the same throughout.

Mk2 Octy started in 2004 though. VIN will have 1U in it if mk1, 1Z if mk2.

Great stuff thanks, I'll go ahead and buy the calipers and carriers

It was just a facelift, the mechanical underpinnings were the same, still a Golf Mk4. I would have expected you to know that before posting.

The question the OP asked was "is a 2006 Octavia VRS a Mk1", was it not?

Is it really my fault if you give an incorrect or at  least incomplete answer?

You really are 'something'.

Touchy.

That was not the question, no, since we've decided to be pedantic. I answered the question, try and be helpful rather than muddying the waters.

Try reading wolfsburger's second post.

You're the one that's dishing out unhelpful stuff. I was trying to correctly inform the OP.

The ETKA pages for 2006 MK1 and Mk2 Octy RS front brakes look to have many different part numbers, but I suppose you knew that, and knew that they are all equivalent?  Are they? I don't know.

Not so, the facelift for the MKI was in 2000, in 2004 the MKII was totally different and based on the MK5 Golf (and also changed from 5x100 to 5x112 PCD) the MKII was then facelift in 2009.

Yes you could still buy a MKI Octavia in 2010 but these were primarily for the taxi trade so you will struggle to find a MKI 2006 vRS

@wolfsburger you need to ascertain whether the PCD of the brakes you wish to buy are 5x100 = MKI or 5x112 = MKII

(You need 5x100)

@Gizmo thanks for that, I ended up winning a set of front and rears on ebay for £88, they came off a Mk4 Golf Anniversary :)
