Air con problem 2006 Octavia.

Featured Replies

Hi guys I've been looking at the forum to see if i can get any help or idea whats going on with my air con, all though ive read several post none seem to be what im looking for.

Problem :--

bought the car second hand just over two years ago. Air con never blew cold air but was blowing air. this never bothered me as I'm more a drive with the windows down sort of guy. that was until we got the unuaslly schorching hot weather recently. So I decided to get the air con sorted.

Brought it to a guy who re-gassed it for me. It blew ice cold for about a day and a half.  ( So I considered a leak )

Brought it to a second guy who came highly recomended, He re-gassed it and put in tracer dye to see if there was any leaks. Again it blew cold for about a day. went back to him but he could not see any sign of tracer dye, He then pressure tested it and there was no indication of any leak.  ( As the air got less cold over the days it was working there was a weird noise coming from the center vents on the dash ) I told the guy about this. He Re- gassed it again but said if it went again it might be a case of pulling out the dash to try locate the source of the problem and that would be big bucks. Again i got about a day out of it.  Anybody got any idea what might be going on here.

Unusual. If they did really leak test and use dye, the I guess they either missed it and it is in an obscure place, or it's leaking under the dash from the blower unit where rheumatoid cannot check.
