Rattle - when dry....

Featured Replies

It's a bit of a strange one this.

I noticed that there seems to be quite a pronounced rattle coming from what sounds like the passenger side of my Yeti (interior of the door but may not as sound can reflect and not be where you think they are). The obvious prodding and poking hasn't cured it or made it evident where it's coming from.

However, I noticed, after taking the car to the jet wash, that it doesn't do it when wet but only in the dry.  Same thing happens when it rains which is baffling.

Anyone had a similar experience or any clues as to what it could be?

Yes.  I have the same problem.

I've tried bits in the boot as well.

Sometimes, if I slam the n/s rear door it stops.

Until Someone opens that door again.

Have found, that door now does not always lock 1st time on auto lock when driving.

I'm guessing that I need to strip the door down to check any loose bits inside.

Knowing me, I'll wait till Christmas before looking.

Can you not do it before and tell me what it is? :biggrin:

I had a similar noise/ rattle took every thing out of the boot etc etc .............turned out to be my sunroof .adjusted under warranty

Good to know that it's not just me.  Alas, however, mine doesn't have a sunroof so still searching for the problem.

Hi Paulq,

I could but, I don't have enough time at present plus,

I do tend to leave some jobs until it has to be done there and then.

As I'm only guessing what it could be, I will wait till I have to do it.

I never thought it could be the sunroof.

I have actually tried that and it made no difference at all.

You need to clean the door seals first as you may have silicon polish on them, my old octy used to do it.

I bought a cleaner and lubricator from a BMW dealer and it did the job.
