overheating

Featured Replies

today I started and drove my Fabia 1 km when the temperature meter reached its top and started to beep. I stopped and looked the engine. none of the radiator fans was working.after some minutes I started the engine and drove again.the temperature got normal but fans were still not moving. when I opened the expanding bin cap there was steam blow up.I have not changed the cooling liquid for many years.what can be the problem :fans, liquid or sensor

Fans or sensor.

I changed the sensor switch to the fan yesterday. In idle the fan go on 40 second and off 50 second and so on. The cooling system seems to be fine now. You need a wrench on 30 mm to lose it and tighten it. Before only 10 second  on and over and about 30 second off...

At first i let the engine cool in 15 min. Then I open the filling cap to take out the pressure, then I fasten it again. Then I could change with minimal loos off coolant - only a little after filling. If you change with the coolant cap on or with preset, it can be a warm process and loose to much coolant.

I took some pictures when the head was off. I sow something I don't  like, but since the gasket was gone I took the chance to no do anything with the cylinders.

Atfer some days the warning light an buzzer cam on. Low cooling water in the "fishbowl". Filled i ut and drive two day, and the warning came on again.

Then I study the picture - zoomed in and look with thick glasses!

I think something i wrong!

I will change the liner, piston rings an try again!?

Wish me good luck!
