Retrofit reverse camera

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

After finally getting the new Sony XAV-AX100 head unit in (thanks for help on this) I now want to fit a reverse camera to the car.  Preference is to fit a licence plate lamp style aftermarket camera and been looking at the options on Auto Tech Direct - https://audiotechdirect.com/reversing-cameras/

The part number for the licence plate lamp is 6YO 943 021 - see pic attached. Can anyone recommend which would be the best option?  Looking at Auto Tech Direct, the Octavia camera - https://audiotechdirect.com/direct-fit-skod1b-skoda-octavia-oem-style-reversing-camera/ probably the closest fit to the original lamp?

Or can anyone recommend a better choice?

David, I've fitted one to my Yeti and written a how-to  (see below).   The camera is fitted inside the tailgate, on the upper trim panel and points downwards.  Seems to work very well.

Cheers, Clive

could try one of these

Yes, absolutely.  I'm impressed with the price.

When I had an external camera on my Octavia, I twice lost the front lens.  The second time was in the car park at Gun Wharf Portsmouth where the floor is clean and area lighting is good so I was lucky to spot it on the ground.  It was that which convinced me to try an internal camera.

Cheers

Clive
