High Beams Don't Work?

Featured Replies

I have a Skoda Fabia 2013 and when I try to switch on high beams they don't work. All other functions like indicating and cruse control work. Do I have to change the the Steering column Indicator Switch Stalk ? and where can I find one.

Hi, there are different types of headlights fitted, depending on model/spec level. Is yours the later, facelift version? I know older versions had other two bulbs or two filaments , one offering dipped, the other full beam and some had a single filament bulb that had a shield in front, that raised/lowered to change the beam.

Can you "flash" the main beam? (Do this by pulling the lever closer to the steering wheel). If you can, it can't be the bulbs. Its more likely to be a motor fault or blown fuse then the stalk its-self, although thats not totally unheard of! The main beam fuse will most likely NOT be connected to other lighting as it will only then blow the main beam and not everything, leaving you in the dark! It might stop say, the audio system or A?C coming on (Just random guess) Or another feature but not likely lighting.

So, does any other function fail to come on too?

The main fusebox is just under the dash, to the right of the steering wheel. You will see a small cubbyhole and under that, a plastic trim panel that can be levered off. Thats the fuse cover. Be careful to only remove one fuse at time and note where you took it from as you don't want to remove something and re-install it in the wrong slot only to find you can't operate more systems and you don't know what goes where. Easily done, believe me!

There are also more fuses/fusable links, on top of the battery but I doubt its one of those. They will be under the protective cover.
