Hi, do the 12 volt sockets on my Octavia switch off when I turn off the ignition ?    Thx.

12v sockets are not controlled by the ignition, it's always live.

 

Do the following mod to change it to ignition controlled:

 

Isnt it best to wire a dashcam using a 'piggy back' fuse, get power from the fuse box, not the 12v sockets?

 

Not an expert, just what I've heard on here.

 

You are right, piggy-back fuse is the way to go for dashcams.

 

But no one mentioned dashcam, some people (like me) just prefer ignition controlled 12v sockets, so I can leave stuff in the 12v and not having to worry draining the battery.
