Power steering fluid

Featured Replies

Power steering light goes on sometimes. Checked the fluid lvl with cold engine and it barely touched the dipstick. Has it some sort of sensor, that controls the fluid level?

There is no sensor that monitors the fluid level. Top it up and then see if the light stops appearing.  Can you get it scanned with VCDS?

There is an angle sensor in the rack that often causes problems, a scan might indicate whether this is a problem or not.

Once you've topped it up you should continue to monitor the level, because it doesn't get 'used', it just leaks out somewhere. Depending on the severity of the leak, you may need to do more than just top it up, otherwise you'll just be dropping oil all over the road.
