Rear window scraper seal

Featured Replies

Hi folks

Im getting my mk1 repainted soon and want to also freshen up the window seals as they are bubbling in the corners (front and rear).

The front 'scraper' seal is seperate to the frame exterior seal, so an easy swap.  However, the rear scraper seal is available but seems bonded / glued onto the frame seal itself.

Has anyone changed one of these before?

I've removed mine on my estate, you have to remove the window runner there one small Phillips head screw that holds it in. Then remove the runner and then the 1/4 glass and seal come out in one. That's how it was on my estate and I'm sure its not that much different to the hatch.

Hope that helps?

Thanks for the reply.  So the main scraper seal will detach cleanly?  I am just looking at replacing the flat part of the seal, hopefully not disturbing the entire thing & quarter glass if possible?

Anyone? :speechless:

You'll be lucky to get it off without bending it. Especially if it's been on there since new.
