Rear sill protectors?

Featured Replies

I am in need of some rear sill protectors for my vrs as the previous owner has inflicted many scratches too deep to polish out on the sills from children I would guess. I was thinking of just fitting projectors straight over them to hide the damage. Can't seem to find the genuine ones online will the dealer supply just the rears? Ive seen many at the breakers yard but they are impossible to remove without damaging them.

I would worry that the thickness would contact the doors, I have this problem on one of my cars with the plastic sill protectors

Well the fronts have them as standard and as long as its oem it wont be a problem

This is in relation to you fitting two one on top of the other

oh ok, why would i be fitting 2?

You were worrying you could not remove the old ones without scratching the sills

Ahh sorry i may have not been very clear. The vrs doesnt have protectors on the rear so the sills have just been scratched. I was planning on fitting them to the rear from a car from a breaker yard which has them fitted- but these cant be removed without damage.

They are just held on with double sided tape so if you can get something thin in between the protector and the sill with the aim of cutting the foam part of the tape rather than levering them off that might work.

A putty or filler knife with a straight edge is what is used.

Otherwise there must still be someone who does generic ones that would fit on ebay somewhere.

yes in theory, but when you're on the top of a pile of 3 cars at the scrappy they are a bit difficult to carefully remove :D

Im hoping to find something generic which can be made to fit

Are any of these any good?

Could the breaker's not remove the protectors for you? Oh, and a credit card is good for removing badges etc that are glued on.....

Ive had a look through that site but the only ones which fit are pretty expensive.

Its hard enough to find a breaker who will remove nice bits from a car let alone one who is prepared to spend a while carefully removing these plastic pieces from a car which is pretty rare to find, then post them to me at a reasonable cost

think i might try the skoda dealer and see what price they can quote me

failing that ill buy some carbon wrap off ebay and cut it to fit
