anyone had an issue with their key jamming in the ignition and not being able to remove the key without a great deal of effort ?

Nope but have had issues with keys in locks that are usually solved by use of some graphite powder lock lubricant!

WD40

Don't use WD40 in a lock, it collects dust and grime causing more issues in the future...

It obviously needs lubricant so anything is better than the risk of snapping a key in the ignition.

I regularly use wd40 in all locks especially winter, also a sticky lock in the car doors can cause the car alarm to go off randomly.

Test: put key in car door and turn to unlock, if key doesn't spring back quite easliy they are starting to stick. 

 

just a thought.is it auto gearbox? if so,as i found out,key won't come out unless gear stick is in park.
