Polyurethane adhesive & paintwork

Featured Replies

Just wondering for those who may have regular contact with P.U.adhesive. Is it pretty paintwork friendly? I'm just imaging if say a spoiler is attached with it, and then its decided to be removed, does the adhesive usually damage the paintwork it has adhered to?

I know its a kind of flexible adhesive, so I'm sort of hoping that anything applied to paintwork to stick something on, will clean up OK and without damage come removal time? The types of stuff I'm talking about is like Tiger Seal and P.U.Flex.

Any bodywork techs care to comment?

I would hazzard a guess and say at the very least you are likely to take off the laquer from the paint. The adhesive has to key into something otherwise it wont stay stuck.
