64mpg in VRS TSI

Featured Replies

So my VRS TSI hit a new mpg record today, an indicated 64mpg......

Shame that in order to achieve this, I was left stranded at the side of the road and had to be towed to the dealer's!

Had misfires followed by the check engine light and EPC lights. Limp mode soon kicked in and had to pull over. Plenty of smoke coming out the exhausts as well as a strong petrol smell. Broke 30k yesterday so it must have been a curse! Luckily wasn't too far from home or the dealer's, but a major inconvenience and I'm missing it already! Glad I'm still under warranty as I go away on Monday and need a car.

Has anyone had a replacement/hire car through Skoda assist before? The terms seem to suggest they only provide a car for 48hours. Is this definitely the case? It's going to be 48 hours or so before the dealer has investigated the issue and then I'm away on Monday for 5 days :dull:

Very lean burn mode?

Hope it gets sorted quick for you.

If you car was recovered by Skoda Assist you should be entitled to Hire car of similar size. If you drive it to the dealers yourself your not entitled to a Car. Unless the dealer gives you one in good faith.   or try  Skoda Ensurance

It was recovered to a Skoda Dealer however the terms of the Skoda Assist suggest they will only cover 2 days for hire cars. They are taking their time with sorting a replacement car out though...

I had to use Skoda assist a few weeks ago - took about 6 hours from the car being picked up to my hire / replacement being delivered.

It is true you only get 48 hrs, however any time I have had one the garage either pays for the extra days I need it while the car gets fixed or they ask me to drop it of and I take one of the dealers courtesy cars. You should never be without a car when your car is in warranty.

Thanks guys. Clarified the situation; apparently it will be 5 days due to having warranty, and the dealer may extend that but  need to clarify with the dealer on Monday.

Skoda assist haven't been the most helpful.... I raised the breakdown and request for assistance at 8.45am this morning. AA were great arriving within 30 mins and dropped my partner and my son back home promptly. Towed to dealer and dropped back home in good time. Spoke with someone around 11am from VW mobility vehicles regarding a replacement being arranged. All good so far.

Then left waiting hours and chasing numerous times for an update on the replacement car. I advised from the start I needed something similar size to my Octavia. By 2pm it transpires it's going to be a tiny 3 door Vauxhall Adam - completely unsuitable with a 1 year old and the associated things you have to take out with you. Asked if I could have this to keep me mobile until Monday morning when they have access to bigger cars. Was told they can't do a swap once I've got the car. Great... An Adam isn't going to be spacious enough for a week's family holiday at Center Parcs so I'm better off not taking it.

So ultimately I'm now left with no car all weekend until Monday morning, as my partner doesn't drive. I'm supposedly receiving an Audi A3 5 door before 10am on Monday.

Only plus side of having no car... Can have a few beers tonight as I won't be driving. Definitely ready for a few after the hassle of today!
