Some little ***** have keyed my car

Featured Replies

Sometime overnight, scratch to the metal on the passenger side front panel, both doors and rear panel.

Aside from kicking some little ****'s head in, is there a fix for the paintwork, or will it definitely need respraying?

If its down to the metal, its a body shop job. Bad luck mate. Probably p.i.s.s.e.d kids showing off to their mates....B.A.S.T.A.R.D.S

Sorry to hear that mate, I kind of know how you feel.. within 48 hours of getting my Octy vRS, some plank put a dent / scratch in the O/S passenger door, looks like they hit it with something.. I was absolutely fuming and quite emotional. :(

I can't see the point of it, needless vandalising of someone elses property, I mean, its not even like they are ever going to be able to look you in the eye and gloat about it.. so what can they possibly get out of it?

Bad luck mate :(

Where do all those fck'rs come? Anger doesn't help until you get it fixed, so do it quickly.

Cheers guys.

Im abroad for a few weeks from Friday, so have a mate taking it in to a bodyshop to get a quote. He needs to take his new MR2 in for stonechips on the bonnet anyway - buying power :)

Very tedious though. Mindless vandalism gets me too - I mean with theft they at least gain something.

Find the kids and kill them.

that's little too harsh. Afterall it is only a car. Good spanking would be better though ;)

It's certainly motivated me to get my dropped kerb in quicker.

Yes. I'm a cybernetic organism, CyberDyne Systems Model 101. I'm a Teeuuminator.

Then repeat with feet

I find cranial amputation would solve all problems of that nature ;)

I know how you feel mate. SWMBO got back to her Megane after work tonite and some wee sh** has keyed right along the driver's side except for the rear panel. Not quite down to the metal but near enough. Its definately gonna need a respray i think. It's not the damage that really bothers me. It's the fact that SWMBO was in tears over it. The wee barsteward that did would have been in tears too and extreme agony if i'd got hold of him.

The car lease is up on 8th March so have to move quickly to get it sorted. 2 doors and a front wing in metallic blue. Whats the going rate. I reckon maybe £200 a panel. Am I warm?

CHIPSAWAY

They will do scratches, see your local yellow pages, and ask for a quote.

As a fellow sufferer of this kind of moronic act, my Octy was keyed from the near-side rear light right along the whole length of the car up to the front wing panel, twice (as two distinct marks). In places the scratches were down to the metal having been flaked off the paint in lumps. The car went to a body shop and had to have the whole of the side resprayed (two doors and a rear wing panel - I don't think the likes of Chipsaway would be able to do a good enough job on a "wound" this deep). The good news is that the galvanised bodywork did not rust, so you don't need to get this sorted immediately, mine was left for a few months while I got together the 400-odd quid it cost to respray and gave me time to finish building a garage to park it in at night rather than in the road, one would have been rather annoyed if it were repaired and the same thing happened ten days later).

As an aside, this incident led to the slippery slope of modifiying. If the car was going to the bodyshop for a respray, why not have a WRC wing sprayed and fitted at the same time, so one was sourced, and then came the 18" rims, lowered suspension and engine mods etc., so really an indecently expensive incident all round. (Oh and yes when I first noticed mine it was a case of     ).

Mate I feel for you....my black furby 1.4 16v was not only keyed really deep by some idiots, but while parked in the car park at work, some complete and utter idiot damaged it while they were reversing out of their car parking space, scrapping the entire passengers side, including rear quarter panel, both doors, and the front wing, including the front bumper. I was left with a few dents etc etc etc. I was well angry. The bugger did not leave any details and drove off. The CCTV didn't capture it either. If this doesn't take the cake.....sometime later, a chap on a bike crashed into the parked car, hitting the drivers side door, and denting that in....the best bit was him saying he didn't see me. How the hell can you not see a parked car in a designated bay on a street? Max quote £1200.00...min quote, £520.00. The £520.00 came about off a friend of a friend etc etc.
