ESC error

Featured Replies

Hi I am new to this forum I am wondering if anybody has had this problem I have a 2014 1.6 diesel Skoda Octavia Ambition and the Error Stabilization Control comes on and wont let the car start  Hoping someone can help Thanks in advance Joey

I doubt that it is an ESC error that is preventing the car from starting.

Its more likely a electrical problem or low battery that prevents the engine from starting & the ESC error is just another consequence of the fault.

For example, most engine related errors will disable StopStart.

The warning given to the driver is "StopStart not Available" although it could be a boost pressure sensor or air temperature sensor which is actually faulty.

Does the engine turn over when you try to start or is it completely dead?

no engine does not turn over then you dont get a glow plug light if you open and close the door a few times turn on and off ignition a few times then glow plug light will come on and then clutch and it will start and once it is driven for a bit it is fine until next morning until I try to start again????

And when it doesnt start, you have ESC error displayed on the Maxidot?

I would take a trip to the dealer to get them to read the fault codes from the ABS and ECU.

Sounds like a electrical connection problem to me, perhaps an intermittant ground connection??

Even if the battery is fine, check the connectors to the battery, if one is loose (The terminals can change shape over time) then this can cause a problem as you will not be able to get enough current to start the car.

Hi, i have exactly the same issue as Joey. Is there a solution? Taken back to the garage, said they updated it. Got it back, the next morning same fault again!

Hi,did you get to the bottom of the issue with ecu faulty stabilizer link,

The car not starting on a cold mornings. I have the same problem

On a skoda octavia 1.6 diesel.

Mine has been doing this intermittently over the last couple of years, I read somewhere that sometimes it indicates the key battery needs changing - which seems odd, but I'll give anything a try! There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it. We have a brand new battery as this died a month ago, so it's not that. Would love to know if anyone has had any luck fixing this.

Its so annoying in a morning when its very cold, thats when its really bad, even if you leave the car for 3/4 hours parked up its hard to start it up again.and there is no crank.
