Fault codes

Featured Replies

My 2007 petrol VRS is showing an exhaust emissions warning light, the fault code is P2279 - Leak in Air intake System. My local garage (not a dealer) recently changed the plugs but couldn't find anything in a brief investigation so cleared the light.

This has now re-occurred with the additional fault codes showing

P1093 - Fuel measuring System - Malfunction - Intermittent

P0507 - Idle Control System - Higher than expected - Intermittent

P2187 - System too lean at Idle - MIL ON

Before I ask them to investigate which could involve many hours of labour does anyone have any likely ideas to maybe narrow this down as a starting point although I do realise this could be a needle in a haystack kind of job but thanks anyway

PCV valve (diaphragm ruptured)?  Fuel pressure Sensor?

Is your 'local garage' a VAG specialist?  I dare say someone with knowledge and of the TFSI/TSI engines will have come across these issues before and know where to look/what to try.

No not a VAG specialist, I think the nearest one is about 20 miles away but as a regular customer they do hook up to laptop and give me the codes for free - thanks anyway ☺

Without treading on any toes and as a newbie wanting a bit of help,  bit disappointed at the lack of response so I suppose nobody knows any answers.

I still maintain the PCV valve would be a good place to start, or an air intake related sensor.   I would highly recommend you hunt out a local independent VAG specialist; call them and explain the situation and give them the fault codes.  Then see what they say and be prepared to visit them for some further diagnostic checks.  The indy specialists I've used in the past didn't charge for doing a fault code scan, if I got the necessary work done with them.

A quick google throws up these guys, any good?

Thanks- at least something of a starting point.

Check the various vac lines to see if they are holding a vacuum. All of the fault codes point to an air leak somewhere in the inlet system.
