OctyII vRS for How Much!

Featured Replies

Have seen a few internet car dealers offering the new vRS for around the

Its a shame but most dealers with showrooms and overheads wont match online prices.

I bought my Mk1 octy from drivethedeal.com and they were great and it was far cheaper than the dealership i went to.

Main comment , 'do your research'. has anyone on here bought from this company, theres othing like a recommendation.....

Dealers make very little on new car sales as it is. Dealer margins are quite small and we have found that even just breaking even on a deal we cant match online broker prices. Some of them manage to get cheaper deals by buying imports (sometimes from ireland) and pre registered cars.

It is hitting dealers quite hard, and I suspect one of the main reasons why the labour rate has gone up a fair bit in the last few years and your service costs have risen.

What I still don't get tho is that the UK destined cars can be bought in Europe for much less or imported for a tad more than buying it in Europe so why do we have to pay quite a lot more for the car as soon as it hits the UK shores.

I know there are taxes, etc but the overall prices difference is way more than the additional 'costs' would make it.

Surely VAG would want more cars sold via Dealerships and so they should allow dealers to cut a better deal on buying them in allowing for bigger margins.

Didn't VAG and a few other motor companies get into trouble with the EU over price fixing or something with the importing of cars from the eurozone into the UK by making delivery time excessively long.

Dealers always complain they make little money on new cars yet there are always big discounts available so someone isn't telling the truth.

I used broadspeed.com to get a quote for a shiny new vRS, they came in at 16,200 with parking sensors (for her in doors). The dealer we test drove at matched the price and we can have a car in 2 weeks :) There must be a good profit margin if they can afford to knock more than 1500 off the price and still make some profit.

And yes VAG got fined 90 million euros for anti-competitive practises.

But surely most of the on-line brokers are just that and the cars are supplied directly by franchised dealers. As the price also includes a fee of few hundred for the broker it seems some dealers must be able to supply at below the net broker price.

Don't know about Skoda specifically but isn't there still a big gap between the price the poor retail customer pays and the fleet buyers for most brands?

What are the margins and how do the bonuses work?
