vRS Air Conditioning Woes

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

Heard a funny noise leaving work at the start of September - immediately felt the air-con wasn't cold at all.

Booked it in with Trans City in Walthamstow (earliest appointment was today, due to workload) - who've just had a look and confirmed the compressor has had an 'internal failure'.

Car is a 65-plate diesel vRS with less than 24k on the clock - so I'm wondering why the a/c compressor has chosen this particular time to meet its maker?

The kicker: last service was done by Robinsons in Norwich during the Easter holidays, including an air-con service.  Apparently they didn't change the pollen filter as it was filthy today (also the same Mann Frecious one I put in there just after Christmas) - shouldn't this have been changed as a part of the service/air-con service?

Trans City have replaced the pollen filter - little annoyed by having to spend £20 on something that surely should have been replaced already.

Anyways - part will be ordered on Monday, arrive Wednesday, but can't be fitted until 23/10 because of workload...at least it's being done under warranty with no arguments.

They only change things that need changing.

I presume at the time your pollen filter looked rather clean, with it being installed after Christmas and Easter being only 4mths later.
