Just stating how it works. Complaining on here does nothing, whilst you talk about apathy you've not taken any action yourself other than go through a script with someone over phone. Something tells me that won;t have made any ripples. Go organise a protest outside their dealerships until they take notice, if they don't take it Europe wide and protest at their HQ in Wolfsburg.

Maybe me being cynical but "Vehicle safety knows all about the problem and are actively gathering evidence right now"  isn't actively gathering evidence if they not got a dedicated link for the problem, contacted owners directly, or even asked for people to come forward on forums like this. No instead a generic link to report faults nothing specific to correlate any meaningful data that would help them.
