Octavia II SE internal door light

Featured Replies

Good afternoon

Has anyone any ideas as to why the front internal light won't come on when either of the front doors are opened, even though the bulb itself looks fine as the filament has not broken?

Thanks in advance.

It's in the middle position, just like the light over the backseats.

it should be in the right drivers side position..

Hmm, thought it should be in the central position! Will try in the Right position tomorrow!

Switch position depends on which of the two versions are fitted in your car.

However, you can check whether there is anything wrong, such as a blown fuse, by switching the switch to each position in turn. One position should turn on the light manually.

The light works if the switch is moved left or right (ATM I can't remember which) and so the fuse would appear to be OK.

Does yours not have little pictures on? one side a lit bulb and other side (towards passenger on mine) a door open pic?

I'm sure an incorrect switch position is not going be the issue. I will laugh if it turns out to be.

But it could be dirty contacts in the switch.

Opposite on mine. ;)

Thanks All.

No wonder then that I was confused (it's one of those things that works until it doesn't!) - tried again this morning, and mine does work correctly with the switch to the right hand side!

Thanks again.

:D                Well, I said i would.

My interior light and boot light have stopped working. Is it off the same fuse? Checked the handbook but cant see fuse listed in the fusebox layouts. Thanks

Can't answer that question.

BTW: What year/model is your car as there are differences, and have both (I assume that you have one in the front and one  over the rear seats) interior roof lights failed?

Sorry should have given year and model. Went out to  car and  found it in the dash fusebox (number 15). I don't have rear passenger lights, only front and boot. Fuse found blown. Thank you for getting back to me immediately to help.

The fuse had blown the other day because I got to work and had left my lights on, but the lights on reminder didn't operate. Lesson learnt and information stored for future reference.

Self-help is often the best way to learn as it is rather harder to then forget what you did (as I learnt further up this thread!)

Leaving your lights on should not, in normal circumstances cause a fuse to blow, unless said fuse is incorrect capacity.

With reminder not operating also, I would suspect a possible (if minor) electrical fault. (I'm no auto sparky though).

Tilt - that's my take on the blown fuse as well (otherwise you would get failed fuses for lots of the systems).
