Clunk noise when rotating drive shafts

Featured Replies

Any advice pls. I have a 2011 fabia Monte Carlo 1.6 tdi 105 . When accelerating especially after changing gears i am getting a clunk noise and if i take of the accelerator and then press it then get the same.

Today I jacked it up and rotated the wheels and even the slightest rocking of the wheels makes a clunk where the cv joints connect to the gearbox same turning both sides.

I know worn drive shafts would click etc when cornering but in the straight and slightest movement. There is the slightest bit of play in the cv joints where it's not turning the inner when I move the wheels but it is so tiny.

Wondering about gearbox? Or any ideas pls. I have not investigated gearbox oil as I presume I have to remove all the under tray?
